Dear Friends,

It's the most wonderful time of the year as we are excited to officially launch the 2019 Stratus Red and Stratus White. Winemakers J-L Groux and Dean Stoyka practice assemblage winemaking – the art of combining several different grape varieties to produce a wine that is the most complex expression of the vineyard. The synergy created with assemblage reflects the age-old theory that the sum is greater than the individual parts.

2019 began with significant weather variability and delayed budbreak. However flowering occurred quickly and warm summer months with optimum rainfall to maintain soil moisture allowed for a stable harvest, and the production of superbly elegant and harmoniously complex wines.

Assemblage of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Syrah and Malbec
Potent aromas and flavours of pomegranate, dried tobacco leaf and hibiscus. With a fine structure of savoury overtones, a fruit-filled palate of black prune and cassis are accompanied by subtle notes of earthy undertones that unfold into a well-balanced and expressive finish of cocoa powder that coats the palate.

2019 Stratus White
Assemblage of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Viognier
Notes of white peach, pineapple and lemon thyme treat the palate to finessed flavours of baked golden delicious apple, ginger, lime zest and créme fraîche. With hints of toasted hazelnut and jasmine tea, a pleasant minerality of crushed gravel accompanies a polished and luxurious finish.
